Alex Blanton
CCHM
Director, Preconstruction Services
With 27 years in commercial construction and more than a decade at Hourigan, Alex Blanton brings a unique blend of field experience and preconstruction leadership to every project he supports. Having worked as both a superintendent and a preconstruction manager, he offers a practical, real-world understanding of how early design decisions translate to performance in the field.
Alex is especially known for his design-assist expertise and his strong ties to the subcontractor community—an approach that brings clarity and confidence to project decisions. His expertise has impacted many of Hourigan’s signature projects, including Dominion Energy’s 600 Canal Place tower, VCU’s STEM and Arts & Innovation facilities, Sentara outpatient centers, mission-critical environments, and complex mixed-use and renovation projects across Virginia.
Alex holds a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from VMI and maintains CCHM certification along with OSHA 30 and emergency response training.
