Overview
ODU sets the standard for career training in healthcare with the addition of the signature Health Sciences building to its growing campus. The Health Sciences building integrates a cross-disciplinary approach to the academic field, housing the schools of Dental Hygiene, Rehabilitation Science, and Medical Diagnostics and Translational Sciences (MDTS).
The new 128,750 GSF, multi-story building houses clinical teaching labs and support spaces for programs in environmental health, gross anatomy, cytology, hematology, microbiology, instrumentation, clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostics, nuclear medicine, and dental materials. The facility includes simulation spaces for inter-professional education, dental hygiene, Physical Therapy/Athletic Training/Occupational Therapy, and a clinical services center that serves the surrounding community. Associated faculty and departmental administrative offices of the College of Health Sciences are included along with student success support areas. The building is certified LEED Silver pending completion.
